Meet the Scholarship Committee
Heather Black Egan, Sharon (Sherry) Nelson Peccarelli and Patricia Miller Murphy with 2013 Award Winner Jenna Contreras.
Heather Black Egan is a 1954 graduate of Park High School. She retired from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside after 23 years as a Program Assistant in the Financial Aid Office. Heather and Marshall’s five children are first-generation college graduates.
Patricia Miller Murphy graduated from Park High School in 1946 and came back to Park to teach combined English/Social Studies to juniors in 1952 and 1953. She has been a Real Estate Agent for N. Christensen/First Weber in Racine for 40 years. Pat and her late husband Richard have four children.
Sharon (Sherry) Nelson Peccarelli graduated in 1955 from Park High School. She has been an Administrative Assistant at Parallel Employment in Racine for over 20 years. Sherry and her husband Lou have 6 children.
Heather, Sherry, and Pat are Racine natives whose families have long histories and deep roots in Racine. They are all members of Preservation Racine, Inc. and have life-long commitments to the community.
April Egan and Toby Egan are the other Selection Committee members. Both attended Racine Case High School and are happy to be a part of this process supporting capable Park High School students. Toby and April enjoyed their father's enthusiastic stories about Park High School and share his values regarding the importance of higher education.
April lives in Minneapolis with her husband Kevin Lawless and two daughters. She has a management consulting firm focused on Energy Efficiency.
Toby, and his wife Angela Bies, are University professors. They live in Potomac, MD with their daughter.
